'...this innocence is brilliant /i hope that it will stay
this moment is perfect / please don't go away
i need you now / and i'll hold on to it
don't you let it pass you by

i found a place so safe, not a single tear
the first time in my life and now it's so clear
i feel calm, i belong, i'm so happy here
it's so strong and now i let myself be sincere

it's a state of bliss, you think you're dreaming
it's the happiness inside that you're feeling
it's so beautiful it makes you wanna cry...'

~ 'Innocence' by Avril Lavigne

I always write or draw to music and I heard this song for the first time and stuck it on 'repeat' and found myself drawing this picture from it, so I thought I'd put a snippet of the lyrics.

Dr. Henry McCoy and Rosalind Honor (my OC from my fan-fiction, 'The Rose & The Beast';).

Not sure whether this is a stand alone or I can say this will be an upcoming scene in the story... maybe a little of both because Hank and Rose are about to go through something devastating, but there's going to be a really unexpected good thing on its heals that is both scary and exhilirating... and now that I've left readers with THAT infuriating spoiler :P

PS. Go find that song on YouTube - it's awesome!

Comments and suggestions higly welcomed!

Dr. Hank McCoy aka Beast, c. Marvel
Rosalind Honor aka Psyche, c. Rachel Sprague

this is completely amazing! I don't even know where to begin. First, I am simply amazed that this is done completely in pencil--the fur, her hair, and even Hank's uniform. They pose is so unique. You can even tell the difference between both figures. Like the soft, more pliable lines of Rose compared to the much straighter, solid lines of Hank's shoulders and arms. I love the small detail in his glasses and how she holds them by her fingers.

The facial expressions are what got me. It's a happy scene but there's something about Rose's eyes that make her look slightly distant or hazy. They both do. It's one of those looks when you're just holding someone for the confirmation of reality.

I really love this one ^_^

*blush* wow, thank you :) I was very pleased with it too. I love working in pencil, my only lament is I have no way to color it and do justice to it... it's funny though how the picture kind of just 'happens'. When I started it, it actually had her cradled on his lap in lab but for some reason it just didn't look right, kept listening to the song and this just kind of... happened, lol. I really appreciate your comments becuase I did work on this a lot last night, redrawing, erasing, sketching to get it to look right - especially Hank's legs, I've never done a lot of foreshortening and I'm still learning.

I'm so happy it conveyed exactly what I was going for with the 'hazy' look. :) This embrace comes after Hank and Rose suffer a pretty heavy blow and make the choice to stay together and fight no matter what comes - there's happiness, but it's a little bittersweet because of what they've just lost and what they might gain if they can defeat the opposition. :D Sorry, didn't meant to prattle but so far this IS the piece I'm most proud of. Thank you for the FAV!!!!

you could've fooled me with the foreshortening stuff. pretty damn professional.

but that's hardly the point. this is a fantastic piece of work. I have a thing for pencil. it can be really messy and sloppy if you don't know what you're doing but when you have real skill, it can look like this picture. and you're right. it's a sweet picture but it's not meant to be a happy ending...well, not yet I suppose. I think their faces knock you back down to the reality of their situation. It's hard to convay that with words and even harder with a drawing.

I stand by what I said earlier. Utterly astounding work!

Aw damn, I gotta step up my game. >.< You draw as well as me and I'm in freaking art school.

Good song, I liked it too. You did an amazing job on everything. Shading, anatomy and expression.

 thank you, Amber, that kind of compliment means a lot coming from you :).
I've always drawn women and done really well with them, but drawing men is just a b*tch - I think I can only manage Hank BECAUSE he meant to be all bulky and big, lol. If it's any consolation though, because you're a wonderful student you can draw a lot of things that I can't - I can't do backgrounds to save my life, boys either look emaciated or girls, and clothing stinks (thank God for X-Men always prancing around in form fitting LYCRA, lol - ya notice Rose is all nekkid, that's mostly because I didn't want to have to bother with drawing jeans and a shirt).
But really, thank you - I did work really hard on this and had to erase and rework what felt like a hundred times last night to get it to this point and I'm just so happy it paid off and y'all like it so much.

I say GRRR for the semi-spoiler, but I love the picture. Are you sure you haven't had traning? Drawn very well. not many can do this kind of work off the top of thier head. Impressive.
 Thank you for the lovely comment, but really, no, I haven't had any training. My mother has a very artistic eye and can do the same thing - even better actually, she's mastered shading. But I always drew when I was younger and when I got into comic books I started practicing by trying to imitate the art and I became pretty darn good after awhile (if you go to the very beginning of my gallery you'll see the zenith of my drawing skills from five years ago). I found myself have to choose between writing and drawing and dropped the art, but I've missed it a lot :P I was pretty shocked at how well this came out - maybe it's just because of how much I love the subject matter ;) and sorry about the spoiler *sheepish smile* hopefully the next chapter will be done before the month is out :D thanks for the fav!

See this artwork, make me feel smoggy and mushy. So perfect =]
thank you! :) I'm afraid I haven't been able to post new chapters and may not for a little while longer - my laptop is out of comission and I'm having to use a friend's computer :( but I will finish it, I promise!... it's just going to happen slowly...
